Collocation Web Hosting
Colocation (co-location, collocation) means the purchase of a web server by a company. The web server is placed in the premises of a third-party company, which provides networking services. Collocation is a perfect yet costly option for companies that need complete control over their server configuration.
There are two types of costs with collocation services – rental fees and connection fees. The company pays rental charges for having the server in the data center of the web host.
Connectivity charges are paid for a number of gigabytes transferred every month. If a 1 mpb/s connection is used, than the average is calculated on the basis of 1 MB per second. Besides, there is a method by which the transfer is measured, like that of «95th percentile», where bandwidth measurements are recorded every 5 minutes. So, at the end of every month the data shows the highest readings.
